In 2003 a company was facing some serious challenges:

  • As the web hosting industry matured, competition in the low level/simple web hosting segment was increasing driving profit margins down. In order to survive, this company had to become both a leaner and at the same time to start selling higher end, more complex services such as dedicated hosting and web design/development.
  • Selling such complex services required an educated sales force able to understand each client's unique needs and requirements and prepare custom solutions.

  • The company was struggling to find employees having both the technical knowledge and sales talent. Sales compensation and commissions surged, cutting the company's profit margins close to the zero level.
  • The company was forced to hire novice employees and teach them the required sales skills in-house.
